With the exception of Unitrin, Chicago (shot with an 8x10 view camera), these night photographs were taken with a medium format film camera (Rollei SL66). When photographing at night, I am trying to find the way I used to perceive objects in the dark as a child. The most harmless things become monsters; the sense of space and proportions is altered. I want to recreate the imagery of children storybooks, with their simple and minimal pictures, and recapture the feelings they used to bring out in me: fascination for the moon, the stars, the oceans, scare of the trees becoming alive, a possible adventure at every street corner.
